Linea is the result of a collaboration between Claydon Reeves and Fincantieri Yachts. The 90m superyacht concept was unveiled during the Monaco Yacht Show and features an interior by March & White. The aim of the project was to create a superyacht that embodied classic Italian traditions combined with a modern design sensibility. The use of space together with the lifestyle at sealed to an exterior design that is intriguing in detail and pure in concept.
Our design philosophy ensures that the defining profile lines flow from bow to stern with a taught, meaningful snap. There is an economy of gesture that draws attention to the subtly concave hull detail creating pools of light on the yacht’s flanks. The superstructure is crisply drawn, referencing the many classic cars that have become a hallmark of Italy.
The sundeck is an expansive, sculptural space with a multitude of seating and lounging areas. In the daytime, geometric sunshades can be raised to provide cover, or at night the open-air cinema can be enjoyed with a fire pit to create the ultimate social space.
On the sundeck, the eye-catching organic mast structure provides the necessary technical space to support equipment such as the radar domes, while also offering shade over the exterior seating area and hot tub.
While at anchor the many folding balconies and shell doors can be deployed, allowing the large custom tenders to be launched and the extensive beach club opened. Shaded seating and dining can be enjoyed here along with direct access to the sea, while a gymnasium with sea views completes the area.
On the main deck, the themes of social interaction are played out in the vast seating area that cantilevers off the stern. The amphitheater-style plunge pool is surrounded by comfortable lounging seats and an external cinema screen that can be viewed from the water.
Perhaps the most unique feature is the owner’s forward deck, which can be privately accessed through the master cabin. Providing expansive views of the approaching seascape, this space has been carefully designed so that it is not overlooked by the bridge sightlines, providing privacy for its vast sofas, loungers, and Jacuzzi. The most forward part of the deck is used as a touch-and-go helipad with access to the bow below.
Linea demonstrates how the collaboration of a design studio and shipyard can produce a superyacht of functional and aesthetic beauty. By embedding the engineering realities in the general arrangement and exterior we have produced a design that is both bold and unique but also completely build-able.
