This artwork was born from a real encounter on the shores of Bijou Plage in Cannes.

As the Mediterranean moved gently beneath the spring light, a golden medusa drifted quietly toward my feet. Instead of disappearing into the water, it remained there peacefully, allowing me to approach and capture the moment through photography.

There was no fear. No violence. Only silence, movement, and presence.

Through a transformation using digital alcohol-ink textures, the original photograph evolved into a fluid composition where gold, crimson, sapphire, and turquoise dissolve together like living currents beneath the Mediterranean surface.

The image became more than a photograph.

It became the memory of a rare moment between human presence and marine life.

THE STORY

Some moments feel almost unreal because they happen without force.

That day at Bijou Plage, Cannes felt unusually calm. The sea reflected soft Mediterranean light while the shoreline remained nearly silent.

Then I saw it.

A medusa floating directly beside me, moving slowly with extraordinary grace.

What touched me most was not only its beauty, but its calmness. It stayed there peacefully, allowing me to photograph it without fear, without aggression, without being stung.

For a few seconds, nature seemed to accept my presence completely.

“The Mediterranean Golden Medusa” was born from that fragile instant — when the sea offers something rare, intimate, and impossible to reproduce.

ARTISTIC INTENTION

To transform a fleeting natural encounter into an emotional Mediterranean experience.

The alcohol-ink transformation was used to extend the organic movement already present within the water itself. Colors expand beyond reality, creating a sensation of fluidity, depth, and silent energy.

Gold textures evoke sunlight crossing beneath the sea surface, while darker pigments reveal the mystery hidden inside calm waters.

The medusa becomes more than a marine creature.

It becomes a symbol of trust, fragility, and coexistence.

The artwork is not intended only to be observed.

It is intended to be felt.
